Highlights of the Period

September:

  • On September 22, 2017, PSTs (phase-shifting transformers) were officially launched. ČEPS has thus ensured safe and reliable operation of the entire Czech electrical system and solved the operational aspect of the critical problem of overflows from Germany. However, the launch of the transformers does not mean that the question of unscheduled flows is completely closed.
  • At the meeting of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board on September 27, 2017, at
    the instigation of the Chairman of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors, Ing. Karel Pícl was removed from the position of a member of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors, effective as of midnight of September 30, 2017. Also at the instigation of the Chairman of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board elected Ing. Svatopluk Vnouček, Ph.D. a member of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors.

July:

  • On July 4, 2017, the sole shareholder exercising its powers of ČEPS, a.s. General Meeting elected Ing. Pavla Sluková a new member of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board, effective as of July 4, 2017.
  • On July 11, the final series of tests of phase-shifting transformers (PST) started at
    the Hradec substation. The tests were successfully completed with a so-called time test under load, after which the machines‘ management was passed to the control center on
    July 17, 2017.
  • On July 19, 2017, the Supervisory Board of ČEPS, a.s., elected Ing. Lenka Kovačovská, Ph.D. the new Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of ČEPS, a.s. and Ing. Pavla Sluková the new Vice-Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of ČEPS, a. s.
  • On July 27, 2017, the ČEPS headquarters was visited by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and the Minister of Industry and Trade Jiří Havlíček. Both visitors were introduced to the operation of the Czech electricity transmission system directly in the main dispatcher's hall. The topic of the meeting with the ČEPS management was
    the security of critical infrastructure of the state in case of emergency.

June:

  • On June 15, 2017, the 2016 ČEPS a.s Annual Report was approved based on the decision of the sole shareholder of ČEPS, a.s.
  • On June 26, 2017, Moody’s confirmed ČEPS, a.s. current credit rating at A2 with stable outlook. This stable high rating is just one level behind the rating of the Czech Republic and it enables the ČEPS, a.s. Company to effectively secure funding for covering the company’s investment program.

May:

  • On May 16, 2017, a joint drill of the company ČEPS and the Police of the Czech Republic “SOUMRAK 2017” took place at the Horní Životice power station. The aim of this drill was
    in particular to test the cooperation between the police forces of the Czech Republic and
    the transmission system operator in case of disturbance in a substation. New security features, such as perimeter protection and so-called synthetic DNA, were tested during
    the drill.
  • On May 2017, the ČEPS Company was visited by a group of more than 40 German students, professors, assistants and PhD students from the Darmstadt Technical University as part of their study trip to the Czech Republic.

April:

  • At an extraordinary meeting of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors on April 3, 2017,
    Mgr. Vítězslav Kulich, was elected the Vice-Chairman of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors.
  • As of April 4, 2017, due to his appointment to the position of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ing. Jiří Havlíček, MBA resigned from his positions of Chairman and member of
    the Supervisory Board of ČEPS, a.s.

March:

  • At the meeting of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board on March 22, 2017, Ing. Miroslav Vrba, CSc. was removed from the position of a member and Vice-Chairman of the ČEPS, a.s. Board of Directors, effective as of March 31, 2017.
  • At the same meeting of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board on March 22, 2017, Ing. Stanislav Votruba was elected a member of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board, effective as of
    April 1, 2017.

February: 

  • The ČEPS Company became a part of a new capacity calculation region. The Core region brings together 16 European Transmission Network Operators and covers a significant area of Europe. The decision to create new regions was taken by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) last November. The Core region will play an important role in the further development and integration of European energy markets. It is at this level that all procedures relating to cross-border trading and the operation of interconnected transmission networks will be approved in the future.
  • The ČEPS Company is among the TOP 5 employers in 2017 in the category ENERGY SECTOR & GAS INDUSTRY & PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY. The ranking was decided by university students.


January:

  • On December 23, 2016, the sole shareholder exercising its powers of ČEPS, a.s. General Meeting elected Ing. Jiří Havlíček, MBA a new member of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board, effective as of January 1, 2017.
  • At the meeting of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board on January 18, 2017, Ing. Jiří Havlíček, MBA was elected the Chairman of the ČEPS, a.s. Supervisory Board.
  • In January, two of the four PST (Phase Shifting Transformer) units were put into operation in the Hradec u Kadaně transformer station. They were launched in two phases. This made possible a better regulation of energy flows on one of the interconnectors with the eastern part of Germany from January 13, keeping them within safe limits. The German TSO, 50Hertz company, scheduled the launch of similar devices on the Röhrsdorf substation for midyear.
  • The ČEPS Company has received more than four million euros from the European Commission’s programs (TEN-E and Connecting Europe Facility – CEF) to finance projects of common interest. It may obtain another nearly two million euros during the first half of
    the year. The subsidies are intended for specific projects that will contribute to ensuring
    the safety and reliability of the operation of both the Czech transmission system and
    the interconnected European network.
