24th August 2011 the Steering Group of CZ-SK-HU Market Coupling project agreed on main principles and governance organization of integrated markets and confirmed target date of the Market Coupling go-live in Q2/2012.

The Steering Group of the CZ-SK-HU Market Coupling (MC) project met 24th August in Bratislava to evaluate latest progress and achievements in the project. The PXs approved the selection of the COSMOS as the algorithm for Market Coupling in order to ensure compatibility with the solution implemented in the Central West/North West Europe (CWE/NWE) region. Current activities on implementation of the algorithm and future arrangements are in line with the set time schedule. The TSOs confirmed that the capacity calculation for the MC will be performed in a coordinated way among parties. As result of cooperation among all stakeholders, the Steering group adopted a high-level design of the Market Coupling arrangement (see attached Mission and Vision of the project).

The SG also elected the chairman Mr. Jirí Strnad who said: I am very glad that the project team works hard to achieve promised launch of the CZ-SK-HU Market Coupling in Q2/2012. We believe that our project will contribute to creation of the European Internal Electricity Market according to the binding goal set by European Council in February 2011. Apart from coupling Czech, Slovak and Hungarian markets, we will endeavor to connect simultaneously with CWE/NWE region with the launch of NWE Market Coupling in the end of 2012.
