European network codes / guidelines

European network codes or guidelines are Commission Regulations that establish uniform rules legally binding within the EU for areas defined in Regulation No 714/2009, in which the EU Member States have conferred the exercise of implementing powers on the European Commission. 

These regulations were adopted by the European Commission with the assistance of a committee composed of representatives of the Member States, and with transmission system operators of the ENTSO-E association and the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) singlificantly involved in the process of developing proposals of network codes.

As well as other TSOs, ČEPS is heavily involved in putting regulations into practice and implementing the relevant provisions at national, regional and European levels.

Network codes/guidelines cover three areas of the electric power sector and currently include the following regulations:
