The following technical and organisational tools are employed to maintain the power balance in real time:

• secondary load/frequency control;
• tertiary power control and
• use of the operating reserve.

The criteria for the quality assessment of the power balance and the maintenance of the export/import balance are based on ENTSO-E recommendations.
